Marilyn's firefighter quilt

Twin #3 (Marilyn) is visiting twin #1 (Annette) for a few days in California. While here, she started another firefighter quilt! She held the fusible web up to the monitor to trace the patterns. I'm almost out of black thread now - a very useful color for fire fighter quilts.

I took this photo using Instagram on my phone, which lets you make your photos look retro. I love it!

The Farm Kids study quilts

You may not know this, but twin #1 of the four twin sisters (Annette - that's me!) lives on a farm in Santa Cruz, California (LoveAppleFarms.com). There are 4 kids involved with the farm - 2 live here and 2 come on weekends. We call them the farm kids. Last weekend I took three of the farm kids to the Santa Clara quilt show to look at the beautiful quilts and they were inspired! Here you see them studying a farm quilt and some 3-d appliqué. They loved the little bird by the bird house.

As a result, they have all started quilting! Thankfully, we have enough supplies from all the donations of fabric over the years for each of them to make a quilt. Thank you very much to all of the barter donations that you wonderful quilting ladies (and a few gentlemen) have sent in. Every single scrap is appreciated!

The next generation of quilters has begun!

Upholstery fabric!

Thick fabric like this is very durable and not particularly suited to quilting. But if you have some extra laying around that you don't need, and you want to barter for our free quilt patterns, I'd love some? I have been using it to creatively patch my children's blue Jean, make durable purses, Christmas ornaments, tablecloths and placemats.

Barter idea: old cameras

Do you have any of these dinosaurs in your attic? You know - an old dusty camera that (gasp) uses film? One of the twins' husbands is a used camera collector as a hobby and he would love to find a loving home for your neglected cameras.

As with any barter sent our way, We'll unlock one of our locked patterns in your honor! Free-quilt-patterns.net/locked.html shows the patterns waiting for a donation or a barter item to be unlocked and made free for all.

You can send barter to: Four Twin Sisters, PO box 111104, Campbell CA, 95011-1104 USA. Thank You!

Barter idea: knitting needles!

I have just learned to knit this year and it's almost as fun as quilting! If you have any lost, single knitting needles (or a pair you don't want, or a circular set of knitting needles) you can send them to us as barter! Any size will do. I'll pair them up with a couple of loners I already have, or use it as a bind-off needle. I'd also like to share knitting with others so your barter needles might find a new loving home.

Thank You!

Barter idea: embroidery floss

We use embroidery floss in details of some of our quilt blocks, as well as our related hobbies of embroidery, needlepoint, stuffed toy making, and even earning socks. I once used embroidery floss to tie a quilt; never again! The knots are "slippery" and slip out after a few years. Use yarn or crochet cotton instead.

If you send some embroidery floss barter to FourTwinSisters, Po Box 111104, Campbell CA, 95011 USA, we will unlock one of the locked patterns at http://free-quilt-patterns.net. If you don't specify which one, we'll pick one for you.

Thank you for sending barter!

Barter idea: Embroidery Floss

We use embroidery floss for embellishing quilts, as well as for cross stitch projects and other needlework projects such as the friendship sampler Annette made this summer (m2kc.com ...search for "sampler"). If you have some you don't need, send it in as barter!
